A TRAVEL GUIDE TO IMO STATE

You just have to visit the Eastern Heartland, if not for its beautiful people and territory but because of the opportunities that abound in the state located in the South Eastern region of Nigeria. Imo state is bordered by Abia State on the east, River Niger and Delta State to the west, Anambra to the south. Tourism is not taken for granted in the state, so you are up for a great time here. Many investment opportunities exist in the state, including oil and gas exploration, chemical plants, brewery plants, hydroelectric plants to mention a few. The main languages spoken in the state are Igbo, English, and pidgin English. There are 27 Local Government Areas in the state you could tour. Others are Njaba, Nkwerre, Nwangele, Obowo, Oguta, Ohaji/Egbema, Okigwe, Onuimo, Orlu, Orsu, Oru East, Oru West, Owerri Municipal, Owerri North and Owerri West.

Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport is the destination for tourists, travelers, and investors visiting Imo state. The Eastern and south-south roads are linked to the Eastern Heartland of Imo.

PLACES TO VISIT

Peradventure you need a place of worship as soon as you enter the state, then you have to visit the Maria Assumpta Cathedral in Owerri. It is one of the largest Catholic churches in the state. There you could also give charity, learn and have a look at the architectural edifice of worship.

If you’re a lover of football, then you could enjoy a weekend with the Imo state home football club, Heartland Fc, at their home ground. The former Iwuanyanwu Nationale play their home games at the Dan Anyiam stadium situated in the capital city of Owerri. The stadium used to be the beginning of stardom for football legend, Kanu Nwankwo. Apart from seeing live actions in the Nigerian Professional League, you could exercise, play and relax in the stadium.

The Imo International Conference and Imo Trade & Investment Center are places for investors and businessmen visiting the state to learn about investment opportunities. These are places for attendants of public lectures, you’ll learn here, and can also visit the government building just for sightseeing.
