5 Types of Nigerian Reactions to NCDC Updates
Here are 5 ways Nigerians reacts to NCDC updates. Nigerians are one of a kind and the way they react to life issues differs:
The Unbelievers: Whenever NCDC come up with figures of people tested positive for covid-19, these set of Nigerians feels the figures were drafted like that in a Mathematical pie chart solution. They don’t believe in the existence of covid-19 in this part of the world. Even if it is real, it is for the rich ones so they don’t believe in the figures released by NCDC.
The Banters: These set of Nigerians though they believe covid-19 is real, they insist NCDC is just making up the numbers to get more funds for the government. They throw shade at the government (especially state government) who needs number of cases to get billions of naira from the federal government. You’ll hear words like; ”Ganduje is a sure odd to get the highest amount of money. He’s coming for Sanwo-Olu”.
The Followers: These set of Nigerians check up NCDC social media handles and refresh the page as if they were checking up football live scores. They are so updated with proceedings. In fact, they check out the world and African standing of Nigeria to know how we are faring with other nations of the world. Those ones make the number of cases to trend on social media. You’ll see stuff like ”70 in Lagos trending on Nigerian Twitter”
The Prayer Warriors: Nigeria is a very religious nation; we also make sure religion have a way in this issue. Once there’s a decrease in the number of cases, they say an end is coming to this due to their prayers. Once there’s an increase in number of positive cases, they take solace in the number of people discharged. These people can’t wait to see the end of this pandemic that has kept them indoors.
The Comedians: These people jokes with the updates released by NCDC. They laugh when the figure increases and say NCDC has increased the odds. Once a particular state is coming up in the number of cases, they say they are coming for Lagos at the top of the table. Some even compare the figures with the past Presidential elections where the north would suddenly rise and overtake the Southern part with millions of votes. They’ll say ”Kano and Katsina are waiting for Lagos toreports its cases before they announce their figures”.
