1. Timi Dakolo was born on the 20th of January 1981 in in Accra, Ghana to a Nigerian father, Bayelsa-native David and a Ghanaian mother, Norah, who died when Dakolo was thirteen years old.
2. He was raised in Port Harcourt by his grandmother Ateni Dakolo and his aunt Susan Larry, and he credits his aunt as his early singing teacher.
3. Timi started singing in church at the age of twelve and emerged the winner of the inaugural season of Idols West Africa in 2007.
4. Timi Dakolo is married to Busola (nee Amupitan). Their union is blessed with three children (Zoe Ateni, Hallel and Alexander Dakolo).
