At 21 years of age this young mogul by the name of Kylie Jenner has made outstanding fame and fortune for herself, even haters have to admit she is breaking the bank.
The annual list from Forbes just drops the richest people in the world and Kylie is on it, her net worth currently at 1 Billion.
This fortune is credited to her beauty line Kylie Cosmetics which first launched in 2015 with matte lip kits and matching lip liners, has now expanded to eye shadow pallets, highlighter and others.
In her interview with Forbes, Jenner attributed much of her success to social media. Indeed, there’s another, lesser known, though increasingly important, list where Jenner reigns supreme: The Instagram Rich List. This annual ranking, released this week, is compiled by Hopper, a UK-based company that produces a scheduling and analytics tool for Instagram users. The company estimates that Jenner, who boasts 111 million followers, can bring in $1,000,000 per sponsored post. Yes, that’s for a single sponsored post. It’s more than you, me, and probably all of our best friends combined make in a single year. (It isn’t called the rich list for nothing.)
Though, Forbes received it’s own share of attack with critics commenting on the term ‘self made’. it can be argued that Kylie was already born in wealth with her father Caitlyn Jenner, the 1997 Olympic gold medalist and her mom, Kris, the ex-wife of Robert Kardashian who was the lawyer for O.J Simpson during his trial.
The fame was also added with the airing of Keeping up with the Kardashians in 2003. Though, Kylie and her older sister appeared on the show as tweens. They started with a clothing line and collaborations before she entered the cosmetics line.
She remains very connected to her family. As CEO, chief marketing officer and chief creative officer, Jenner owns 100 percent of Kylie Cosmetics, while Kris Jenner serves as the company’s chief financial officer. And when Jenner was named one of Time Magazine’s most influential teens of 2016, she told the publication that she has been most inspired by her older sister. Kardashian West is “so dedicated, she’s so smart, she’s such a businesswoman and she’s always doing something and thinking of new ideas,” Jenner said. “She has inspired me to have a great work ethic.”
