The Recording Awards have released a list of nominations for the 2022 edition of its 64th Grammy Awards, with Nigeria well represented.
The list, which was released on Tuesday, has Nigeria Music Star, Wizkid bag two nominations.
Wizkid, Burna Boy, Femi Kuti and Tems will battle it out for the Best Global Music Performance at the Grammys, with Beninese singer Angelique Kidjo also nominated in the same category.
Wizkid ‘Made in Lagos’ album will battle it out with Femi Kuti and Made Kuti’s ‘Legacy+’ in the Best Global Music Album.
Angelique Kidjo ‘Mother Nature’ and Rocky Dawumi’s ‘Voice of Bunbon Volume’ was also nominated in the same category.
Burna Boy‘s ‘Twice as Tall’ album won the Best World Music Album award in the 2021 edition, while Wizkid also won for his contribution in Beyonce’s ‘Brown Skin Girl’ as Best Music Video.
The 64th GRAMMY Awards show, recognizes recordings released between September 1, 2020 – September 30, 2021.
The nominations are cut across 86 categories of the different genres all over the world.
The Recording Academy will present the 2022 Grammy Awards on Monday, January 31, at the Microsoft Theatre and can be streamed live on GRAMMY.com and the Recording Academy’s YouTube channel.
