2022 Grammy: Wizkid Finally Congratulates Angelique Kidjo

Award-winning Nigerian artist Ayo Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid has finally congratulated Beninese singer-songwriter Angelique Kidjo for her Grammy Award win.

Wizkid received nominations for the ‘Best Global Music Performance’ and ‘Best Global Music Album’ categories at the Sunday gala, which he lost to Mohabbat and Angelique Kidjo respectively.

Despite the award being won through a voting process, some disgruntled fans of the Star boy as he is fondly called took to the Instagram page of the Beninese singer to criticize her win.

Angelique Kidjo was later forced to disable comments on her Instagram platform because of the massive trolls she has been receiving.

Wizkid Recognises Winners

The ‘Essence’ singer was yet to make any comment on the trolls and Grammy loss, finally congratulated Kidjo on her win.

In an Instastory post on Tuesday, he appreciated Kidjo and a South African musician and Disc Jockey ‘Black Coffee’, calling them a shining light to African Music.

Wizkid wrote, “Love to my brother, a true king @realblackcoffee and Queen @angeliquekidjo for the wins and for consistently shining light to the continent. African music (is) rising.”
